‎Ondo Police Nab Suspected Kidnapper While Withdrawing N1m Ransom at PoS

Police in Ondo State have arrested a suspected kidnapper, Godspower Cletus, after he allegedly attempted to withdraw a N1 million ransom at a Point-of-Sale terminal in Akure.

‎According to police sources, the suspect had earlier stormed the home of Mrs Farimoyo Endurance in Odudu community, where he reportedly robbed her at gunpoint, taking her Android phone and ATM card.

He then forced the victim to call her husband and demanded a N5 million ransom.

‎The husband was said to have transferred N1 million to his wife’s Opay account under duress. The suspect fled immediately after confirming the payment.

‎However, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad tracked his movements through intelligence and apprehended him at the PoS stand as he attempted to withdraw the ransom.

‎State Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect has already confessed to the crime. He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover possible accomplices or links to other incidents.

‎Olayinka praised the swift response of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, describing it as evidence of the Command’s improved operational capacity and commitment to proactive crime-fighting.

‎The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
