OPMESA Dislodges Illegal Occupants in FRCN, Ikeja Property

By Abiola PETERS

As part of resolve to prevent any security breach in Lagos State, an enforcement team of the OPMESA under 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Ikeja Cantonment, has dislodged occupants of suspected hideouts inside the premises of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, in GRA Ikeja.

The operations started at about five o’clock Tuesday evening and lasted hours.

The illegal community was made up of shanties occupied by illegal sugarcane traders, herders and other individuals of unknown identities.

The illegal occupants were given the opportunity to remove valuables including clothes, beddings, sugarcane and herds including cows and goats.

Leader of the Operations who preferred anonymity, hinted that the action became necessary following intelligence reports.

Additional findings are that an official complaint was made by the Ikeja GRA Residents Association, IGARA, over the threat posed by the unidentifiable individuals.

Also, the action on the community may not be unconnected with the fact that it is very close to the barracks of the Ikeja Military Cantonment.

The OPMESA operations was witnessed by management team of the National Broadcast Academy, led by the Deputy Director Academics, Dr Ayodele Aliyu and that of Bond FM led by the General Manager, Princess Adenike Adegoke.

Dr Aliyu and Princess Adegoke eulogised the emergency operations by the Military Taskforce, noting that notices had been issued a couple of times to the illegal occupants to vacate the space.

Both management staff urged the authorities of the 9 Brigade, to maintain a surveillance of the premises in view of the red alert on security across the country.
