Organised Labour Unions in Lagos Declare Support For APC

Members of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, on Thursday, endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term in office.

At a rally in Ikeja, tagged “Labour 4 Sanwo-Olu” the leaders of the organised Labour movement including the State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Agnes Sessi and her TUC counterpart, Comrade Gbenga Ekundayo took turns in listing out benefits being enjoyed under the Sanwo-Olu’s administration and innovations introduced to make life easier for workers in the State, said the entire labour movement in Lagos had unanimously agreed to re-elect the Sanwo-Olu’s administration because one good turn deserves another.

According to Comrade Sessi, the labour movement had always been non partisan “we have always been sitting on the fence, but this time around we want to be in the government, government of the people,by the people and the people”

On his part, Comrade Ekundayo emphasized that the Sanwo-Olu’s administration has been a dependable partner so far “we have tested Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and we have found him to have a listening ear, so we have decided to return Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat for another four years in office”

The workers who urged the Governor to continue the good works he had begun also declared their support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other aspirants in Lagos.

In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu who thanked the Labour movement for the unanimous endorsement promised that

“We will make sure that we create the ambience for you to grow, to deliver and grow in wealth, that the spaces where you work are the very best that you can imagine, this great endorsement is a confirmation that you believe in our leadership and we will not take it for granted, we will not take you for granted” the Governor promised.

Earlier at a mega rally in Ijanikin, organised by the Party for the the APC West Senatorial District (Zone II), attended by thousands of residents in the axis,
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the APC-led Government, in the last three and half years, had accorded priority to Badagry Division in infrastructural renewal and physical development, citing the ongoing construction of the Lagos Badagry Expressway and the Deep Sea shore, where he said construction work would begin soon.

The Governor urged the residents to keep faith with APC in the forthcoming general elections, promising that the party would reciprocate the support by bringing more democratic dividends to the area.

During the rally, some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Action Alliance, AA, decamped to the APC. The defectors who were led by PDP’s former Legal Adviser, Mr. Muyideen Akinsanya, and Women Leader, Mrs. Amoke Agbalajobi, as well as former State Secretary of Action Alliance, Michael Sessil, were presented to the Governor by the Lagos APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
