Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will sit out Galatasaray’s 2025/26 league opener against Gaziantep today, August 8, as he is yet to reach full fitness following a late return to pre-season.
His delayed resumption was linked to a protracted transfer negotiation between his former club, Napoli, and the Turkish champions.
After finally sealing the move, the former African Player of the Year was unveiled to a rousing reception at Rams Park ahead of a friendly with Lazio.
Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scored an impressive 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, setting the record for the highest-scoring foreign player in a single Turkish league season.
