Oworo Residents Seek Speedy Lagos Assembly action over Land Grabbing

Residents of Oworo in Kosofe Council Area of Lagos State on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest to the Lagos State House of Assembly over the alleged illegal demolition of properties in the area.

The community said the demolition of their houses had adversely affected their well-being and businesses.

The leader of the protesters, Benjamin Ogunlami said the people had been sleeping rough and wanted the lawmakers as their representatives to speed up investigation into the matter.

Addressing the protesters, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on the Oworo land demolition, Mr. Nureni Akinsanya, said that the Committee had visited the community and invited their representatives to submit documents to help them do their job.

Mr. Akinsanya, who had two of his colleagues, Mr. Kehinde Joseph and Mr. Apata Samuel with him, said, “We have spoken to your representatives to produce evidence for the affected property to request compensation on your behalf where required.

“Please, let us do our job, and we will get back to you,” he said.
