Parents Urged To Pay More Attention To Children’s Upbringing

Mrs. Olajumoke Saliu, founder of the Charitable Network for Community Empowerment (CHANCE), a Non Governmental Organization, has called on all parents to pay more and special attention to what their children do, especially as the world keeps evolving.

Saliu stated this at the 2022 International Children’s Day event organized by the NGO in Abesan area of Lagos, assured that the NGO will continue to create social impart for children, youths and women in order to charge them to success.

While noting that the outreach is a special one to help educate and give children a sense of belonging at a very tender age, she said, “My word to parents is that they have to be intentional and more involved in what  their children do. Children of these days are smarter than what we used to know, it is important for parents to understand their environment and know how to relate with your children.

“Another thing is understanding yourself as a parent and determining to show the children things that will impart their lives positively, as they emulate all they see around them even attitude.”

In her message at the event, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commended the NGO for complementing the state government empowerment programmes as she reminded the children to pay good attention to their education.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, who spoke virtually at the event, urged children to believe in themselves and shun all vices that can damage their future.

The chairperson on the occasion, Mrs. Deborah Omojola noted that the event is timely as it is an avenue to bring children together to advise them, especially imparting positively on them remind the children that they are the future of Nigeria.

Omojola commended CHANCE for the event that gives back to the society, saying, “It is a wonderful organization, the programme was brought to the grassroot especially for the less privileged children bringing fun and excitement to their doorstep.”
