Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi Emerges Lagos APC Chairman

A former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi has emerged as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State.

Elected alongside thirty-five others via voice votes, at the Party’s State Congress which was held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, the Pastor Ojelabi led executive will pilot the Affairs of the APC in Lagos for the next four years.

Congratulating the newly elected APC excos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the election as one of the most fairest and decisive congress in the State.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu said, “Let me on behalf of the entire cabinet and the people of Lagos State thank God to have conducted a fairest, simplest, non controversial, decisive congress of the APC in Lagos State, indeed Lagos has chosen well and I know that this team would take APC Lagos to an enviable level.”

The Governor particularly noted the large number of women elected as part of the State APC executives, pointing out that the women had earned their laurels.

While fielding questions from newsmen on the report of a parallel congress by a fraction of the APC, Governor Sanwo-Olu who said he was not aware of such an activity described it as a “tea party”

“I am not aware of any other congress. May be because of your work, you are able to see those who are engaging in a tea party.” the Governor said

In his Acceptance Speech, Pastor Ojelabi promised that he and his team would consolidate on the achievements of past leaders by serving to the best of their abilities “Today marks another milestone in the history of Lagos State. We are ready to carry on from the achievements of the outgoing Exco. On behalf of the new Exco, we are committed to take the party higher pedestal. We assure you of our commitment to lead the party to greater heights. I enjoin all party members to come stronger to take the party to the next level and consolidate on the Governor’s achievements,” Ojelabi said.Earlier, the Chairman of the National Committee of the APC Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Bayo Adelabu announced that 1,615 delegates were screened for the Congress.He said a voice vote was adopted as all the 36 positions were unopposed, even though 37 forms were received.According to him, the Committee received two forms for the Party’s Chairmanship position, but the other contestant was disaccredited
