PDP Convention Holds This Weekend, Damagum-led NWC insists

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) have firmly insisted that the party’s proposed national convention will go ahead as planned this weekend.

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary and Secretary of the NCOC’s Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee, Debo Ologunagba, issued a statement to all members and the public, confirming that the 2025 National Convention has not been postponed.

It remains scheduled for Saturday, November 15th, to Sunday, November 16th, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ologunagba urged party members and Nigerians to disregard “misleading claims” suggesting the contrary.

He alleged that these claims are being peddled by individuals “recruited by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in its failed attempt to stop the PDP national convention.”

“We are aware of the plots by the APC to destabilise the opposition and impose a one-party state in the country, a design that will be lawfully resisted,” Ologunagba stated emphatically.

He assured stakeholders that the NCOC and the party are working “assiduously round the clock to ensure a successful National Convention in Ibadan as scheduled.”

The statement concluded by welcoming all delegates, party leaders, officials, and supporters who have already begun arriving in Ibadan for the event, thanking Nigerians for their “overwhelming support.”
