The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general elections, declaring that Nigerians will not accept excuses of “technical glitches” in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, told journalists in Abuja that the party will lead efforts to ensure a transparent and credible process.
He argued that existing infrastructure can support real-time electronic transmission of results, stressing that “if Point of Sale (PoS) works in every village, BVAS should work too.”
Ologunagba accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu of “endorsement shopping” out of fear of PDP’s growing strength ahead of 2027.
He said Nigerians already know APC has failed, citing hardship, inability to feed families, rising taxes, and unfulfilled promises.
On the party’s 2025 national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Ologunagba disclosed that 11 subcommittees have been set up to ensure a seamless exercise, adding that the outcome will further strengthen PDP ahead of the polls.
Meanwhile, PDP’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, clarified that while the party has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, aspirants from other regions are still free to contest, in line with the Nigerian Constitution.
He stressed that zoning is only an internal arrangement for balance and equity, urging members to prioritize unity and reconciliation over personal ambitions.
