The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture has announced the death of a former National President of the association and the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson.
The death of the prominent educationist and founder of the popular Alaba Lawson Group of Schools, Abeokuta whose demise was contained in a statement, signed by the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture Abdulrahman Maku says, she died in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the statement, “We regret to announce the demise of NACCIMA past President and ABEOCCIMA, Matron and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, MFR, JP (Iyalode of Yorubaland) which occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday 28th of October, 2023. Burial arrangement to be announced later by the family. May God Almighty grant repose to the soul of Iyalode”.
She was until her death, the Iyalode of Egbaland and Chairman Board of Trustees of ABEOCCIMA.
The late Iyalode Alaba Lawson born on January 18, 1951, was a business magnate, academician, entrepreneur, and one who championed women’s upliftment and empowerment.
In the same vein, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, B’ Zone has registered its sincere condolences to her immediate family, the people of Egba land, and the entire Yorubaland.
A statement signed by the Zonal Vice President, Ayaba Omobola Akingbehin, and Zonal Secretary, Funmi Adekoya, described the Matron of NAWOJ B zone, Chief Mrs Alaba Lawson, as an industrious and philanthropist, who will go out of her ways for the good of the people around her.
“Chief Mrs. Lawson was the former National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture and the Iyalode of Yorubaland and the prominent educationist and founder of the popular Alaba Lawson Group of Schools, Abeokuta.
“Due to her love for issues affecting women, Chief Lawson was always ready to support activities of NAWOJ both in Ogun state and the zone”.
NAWOJ B Zone, pray that God console her family, friends and business associates as well as grant her soul eternal rest.
