Pillars, Babes Retain Crowns as Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2022 Ends Today in Lagos

Kano Pillars and Safety Babes have successfully defended their titles in this year’s Prudent Energy Handball Premier League season 5.

The two big teams ensured the defense of their titles after winning yesterday’s penultimate matches which stretched their unbeaten lead in the tables to make games they will be involved on the final day a mere formality.

Pillars defeated stubborn Tojemarine Academy 25-23 to remain league leaders in the men’s category with 63 points 4 ahead of second placed Safety whom they will clash with today in a dead rubber.

Other matches in the male category saw Rima Strikers defeat Confluence Stars 21-20 to be in 4th position in the table with 48 points while Benue Buffaloes got a vital 28-23 win over Owena Kings.

Safety Shooters defeated Police Machine 21-17 just as former champions Niger United worked hard to defeat Seasider Boys of Lagos 35-34.

In the Women’s games, Safety Babes ruthlessly defeated Benue Queens 36-15 to retain their crown on 51pts ahead of 2nd placed De Defenders who slumped 23-27 to Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri to amass 45pts.

Elsewhere Rima Queens kept hope alive to be in top 3 as they defeated Plateau Peacocks 26-24.

The competition which is organised under the auspices of the Handball Federation of Nigeria comes to a close today at the Indoor Hall of the University of Lagos Sports Complex in Akoka.
