Police Commence Full Enforcement Of Ban On Okada Riders In Lagos


The police in Lagos have alerted the residents to the total enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles in the additional four Local Government Areas of the state beginning today.

To this end, there was a Show Of Force Operations embarked upon by the police to signify their readiness to carry out the directive in full force in collaboration with other sister agencies.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Abiodun Alabi, therefore warned that violators of the ban would be promptly arrested and prosecuted.

In a statement issued by the Lagos police spokesman, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, law abiding citizens are enjoined to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The enforcement of the ban on operations of the commercial motorcyclists takes effect today in Kosofe, Somolu and Mushin local government areas while the local council development areas affected are Ikosi-Isheri,

Agboyi-Ketu, Isolo, Ejigbo, Bariga and Odi olowo.

So far, ten out of the twenty local government areas and twenty LCDA’s have been covered by the ban.

It was observed that residents of the newly affected areas like Somolu and Bariga were seen this morning walking to their various destinations as no commercial motorcyclist was seen in sight operating.
