Semifinal games of the Zenith Bank Nigeria Women’s Basketball League 2025 will take centre stage today 19 September at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
At 2PM, high-flying Dolphins BC will lock horns with fearless Royal Aces in a clash of grit and glory.
The second semi-final heavyweight showdown at 4pm sees defending champions MFM face off against aerial winners First Bank in a battle of champions past and present.
MFM made sure of their place in the last 4 after defeating Titans 57-32 yesterday 18 September to make it two wins from three games.
Earlier yesterday, Dolphins confirmed the elimination of Nigeria Customs, after thrashing the Border Girls 79-45 points to make it a flawless campaign, having won all their games in the group with Customs finishing winless.
Royal Aces also made it to the final four with a 40-37 point win against Bayelsa Blue Whales while First Bank completed the lineup with a 66-35 demolition of Air Warriors.
Sponsors, Zenith Bank PLC, brought in six schools to witness the games on Thursday and on Saturday 20 September, about 15 schools are expected to create a carnival like atmosphere on the final day of the competition.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s final, the Group Managing Director (GMD) and CEO of Zenith Bank, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji (OON), who promised to be physically present during last day of action reiterated the financial institution’s commitment to supporting sports especially women basketball in Nigeria.
”This year’s edition has been very exciting because I am also following the proceedings.
We expect a great final in Lagos and I believe fans will enjoy the skills to be exhibited by these players,” Adaora said.
