The Police Service Commission (PSC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Town Division, Lagos State Command.
CSP Ngbaronye reportedly passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, following complications from a surgical procedure at a private hospital in Lagos.
In a condolence message, the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), described the late officer as a dedicated and exemplary professional whose service to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) remained commendable until her death.

Argungu said tributes from colleagues and subordinates testified to her commitment, discipline, and sense of duty, noting that her passing was a great loss not only to the Force but to the entire law enforcement community.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, the bereaved family, and the late officer’s aged mother, praying for divine strength to bear the loss.
“CSP Matilda Ngbaronye’s record of professionalism and dedication stands as an inspiration to officers across all ranks. The Commission shares in the grief of the Nigeria Police Force and her family at this painful time,” DIG Argungu stated.
The PSC Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring improved welfare and working conditions for police personnel nationwide, stressing that officers deserve adequate support and recognition for their enormous responsibilities in safeguarding lives and property.
The late CSP Ngbaronye was widely respected for her integrity, courage, and leadership, particularly in community policing and public safety within the Festac division.
