Motorists and commuters in Lagos are celebrating the reopening of the PWD–Ikeja GRA access road, which had been closed for some time.
The development is expected to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel times for residents and road users.
Speaking on the reopening, the Awuse of Onigbongbo, Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa, who was also affected by the closure, appealed to motorists and commuters to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations for smooth operations.
The monarch expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, for responding to the appeals that led to the reopening.
He also commended the GRA Residents Association and other Lagosians for their patience during the closure period.
Oba Ajasa further urged the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) and the Lagos State Government to put in place stronger safety measures, including electronic surveillance systems and the presence of security agencies such as the police and LASTMA officials, to ensure secure passage for both motorists and commuters along the reopened corridor and the adjoining rail track.
The reopening is expected to restore smoother daily commuting for Onigbongbo residents and others who rely on the PWD–Ikeja GRA route.
The monarch also appreciated the collaborative efforts of government and stakeholders in resolving the issue.
