Radio Nigeria Lagos rolled out a colourful celebration on November 26, 2025, to honour Pastor (Mrs.) Bolanle Folake Owoyemi, the immediate past Director of Lagos Operations, who retired at 60 after 32 years of dedicated service.
The send-forth ceremony, held at the Nigerian Army Officers’ Mess, Marina, brought together staff, partners, family, and friends in a joyful atmosphere filled with music, cultural performances, and heartfelt tributes.
Organised by the staff of Lagos Operations under the leadership of Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala, the event featured a vibrant Itsekiri cultural dance procession that heralded the celebrant’s grand entrance.

She described her as an ideal administrator whose impact would endure.
Mrs. Owoyemi’s successor, Princess Adenike Adegoke, alongside senior management staff including Mr. Fred-Shaka Braimah and Dr. Sam Anyanwu, paid glowing tributes to her integrity, vision, and professionalism.
They acknowledged her pivotal role in strengthening Lagos Operations and her unwavering commitment to public broadcasting.
In her remarks, an emotional Mrs. Owoyemi expressed deep gratitude for the honour accorded her.
She recalled the challenges faced during her tenure—especially the fire incident that destroyed the live studios of Metro FM and Radio One—yet commended staff for their resilience.
She urged them to stay committed to professionalism, integrity, and teamwork, noting that one’s legacy outlives one’s time in service.
Mrs. Owoyemi’s distinguished career, which began in Ibadan in 1993 and peaked with her leadership in Lagos, earned her admiration for her intelligence, poise, and administrative brilliance.
As she steps into retirement, colleagues and loved ones celebrate a woman whose imprint on Radio Nigeria remains unmistakable, wishing her a fulfilling and peaceful new chapter.
