Radio Nigeria has intensified its collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, following a courtesy visit by the Director of Lagos Operations, Princess Adenike Adegoke, to the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command.
The visit highlights growing media–security partnerships aimed at curbing drug-related crimes, especially among young people.

Princess Adegoke said the visit was to commend the NDLEA for its relentless efforts nationwide, stressing that as a public broadcaster, Radio Nigeria has a duty to amplify the agency’s work to all segments of society.
She described the NDLEA as a critical institution safeguarding Nigeria’s future and assured that its seizures, arrests, and breakthroughs would continue to receive wide coverage across Radio Nigeria stations, including its Network services.
Responding, the Commander of the Lagos Strategic Command, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, Mr. Abubakar Liman Wali, emphasized that prevention and sensitization are central to the NDLEA’s strategy.
He explained that the agency is intensifying community, faith-based, and school-focused interventions, noting that preventing drug use among youths is more effective and less costly than rehabilitation.
Mr. Wali also disclosed that the NDLEA is implementing an Alternative Development Strategy with international partners to help individuals involved in illicit crop cultivation transition to legitimate farming, such as cassava and other cash crops.
He stressed that tackling the drug menace requires collective action from families, schools, traditional and religious leaders, and the media.
Other Radio Nigeria and NDLEA officials underscored the security, social, and criminal implications of drug abuse, noting its strong link to crime in society.

They agreed that sustained public awareness through conventional and digital media remains the most powerful tool, as both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Nigeria’s youth and reducing drug abuse and trafficking nationwide.
