Railway : Minister Inspects Rail Projects In Lagos.

The Federal Government has reassured Nigerians of improved security on train services across the country.

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, gave the assurance during an official visit to the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, in Lagos and inspection of the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Guage Rail Line corridor.

The Minister started his visit with a closed door meeting in Lagos with management Staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and thereafter inspected the railway Control Centre at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, and the NRC management team then embarked on the train ride to Ibadan with a stop over at the train wagon assembly plant in Kajola, Ogun State, to check progress of work done so far.

Mr. Jaji Sambo, who noted that the Federal Government had kept its promise in securing the release of the remaining abductees of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack of March this year said that security has been beefed up on train services across the country to prevent a reccurence while train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor is expected to resume before the end of this month.

Mr. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, reiterated that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration would continue to give priority to revamping the rail sector in the country.

The General Manager, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Mr. Fidet Okhiria, noted that rail transportation has been facing challenges which included security and vandalisation and commended the Federal Government and security agencies in making sure that the rail corridors are properly secured and the safety of passengers guaranteed.
