Nigeria’s rising tennis star Seun Ogunsakin will square up to Germany’s Oliver Majdandzic today in the final qualifying match of the French Open Boys’ Singles championship.
To progress, the Nigerian star beat French youngster Lenny Couturier in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 yesterday in Paris.
The German upset qualifier’s no. 4 seed to reach the final qualifying round.
A win for Ogunsakin will seal his qualification for the Main Draw of a Junior Grand Slam event in his first ever appearance.
The 17-year-old Ekiti State born player, made history as the first Nigerian in decades to compete in the qualifying draw of the French Open junior tournament.
More historic feats beckon for Ogunsakin as he battles for Nigeria’s first ever spot in the main draw of the clay court Grand Slam junior tennis competition.
First he must see off his final qualifying German opponent today from 3:05PM Nigeria time.
