REDAN to conduct South West Zone New Executives’ Election on Tuesday April 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State

The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, REDAN, has insisted that despite the disinformation in the public domain, the election of new executives across the six South West states will be held on Tuesday April 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

National President REDAN, Prince Akintoye Adeoye made this known at a News conference in Ikeja to clarify the misinformation to the public by the leadership of the Lagos Chapter of Association.

Prince Adeoye expressed dismay on the unauthorized representation of the immediate past chairman of the Lagos chapter, Mr Bamidele Onalaja whose tenure expired on February 22, this year.

“For record purposes, the national body can confirm that Mr. Onalaja’s tenure expired on 22nd February 2024 in line with the constitution of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria. According to the REDAN Constitution, Section 20.2(i) states that “Elected officers of the Association shall be permitted to hold the same office for a single term of four years for the current EXCO, effective from February 2020 and subsequent councils.”. The 6th REDAN EXCO, that Mr. Bamidele Onalaja served, and was dissolved upon expiration of tenure.”

“Therefore, such unauthorized representation goes against the principles and regulations of our association, which has well-established rules and laws for addressing any grievances or disputes. We encourage all members to use these channels for conflict resolution rather than resorting to social media platforms.”

“Consequently, the national body, under our constitutional mandate, will thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that necessary sanctions are implemented.”

Prince Adeoye therefore warned that any member who flouts the Association’s constitution would be dealt with in line with the rule of law.

According to the Prince Adeoye, there are reports that the immediate past chairman of Lagos chapter of REDAN, Mr Bamidele Onalaja still parade himself as the incumbent while raising false alarm of hijacking of the association from Realtors.

Our Correspondent Yemisi Dada quotes the National Vice President REDAN for Southwest zone, Dr Kunle Adeyemi as stating that elections have been held rotationally among Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti state in which no member has ever raised eyebrow.
