Remember The Poor and The Needy as you Celebrate Christmas – DLO FRCN

The Director, Lagos Operations of FRCN, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, has appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to consider the plights of the needy by extending love and care to them in the spirit of the Christmas season

She made the appeal while inaugurating this year’s Children Funfair at the Broadcasting House Ikoyi Lagos.

Mrs Owoyemi noted that the season was all about love and sharing as exemplified by our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The DLO, who interacted with the Children, also reminded them that Christmas was a time for meriment, dance and celebrations as well as
Sharing of gifts to family members and loved ones.

“As you celebrate Christmas, let us remember the poor and the down trodden, those who do not eat and do not have to give, because we have people out there who are needy’ so as we celebrate as Leaders, Parents and Children, it’s a period of sharing and giving, whatever you have, share it as you do, you will have much more”, Owoyemi said

With this solemn appeal, the DLO welcomed everyone and declared the month – long event open, as she led members of Management Team to dance with the children.

Earlier, a Cleric, Prophet Emmanuel Oluwasegun Bamidele also known as “Baba Lesekese”, had in his short sermon, spoken on the “Purpose of the Gathering” which is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Clergy man, who drew his text from Matthew 1:20 -22, explained the miraculous conception and birth of Jesus, the Messiah who came to save mankind from condemnation.

He tasked the children to re-dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ in order to fulfilment their purpose on earth

The Deputy Director, Marketing and the organiser of the event, Mr Istifanus Baba, apologised for the short period the programme could not hold due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

He, however, announced that the yearly event has returned with great innovation.

“Christmas Funfair is a tradition and COVID-19 came and put a halt to it, we all know that as a Corporate entity FRCN has its corporate social responsibility, and as lovers of Children, we have three distinct Programmes for the Children, comprising the Children Funfair, Children’s Day and the Day of the African Child. All these three are being organized to celebrate the Children. We give God the Glory for always helping us in organizing these events because with all these, the Children will grow to love our Stations”. he said.

In her contribution, the Assistant Director Programmes, Ms Maria Ihuoma commended the Marketing Department for a well organized event, despite the challenges posed by both the Covid 19 pandemic and the economic situation.

“We know the state of the economy and the setbacks but in, overall, they have tried and have done well to put together this event as Xmas is in the air, everybody can feel it and it is a golden opportunity for the FRCN to put together this event for the children, to let them have the feeling of Xmas”, Maria said.

A Representative of one of the Sponsoring Organizations, Seaway Foods and Beverages, Mr Femi Kehinde, also scored the event high, explaining that it was a pleasure to align with the Children and hoped for a greater event next year.

It was entertainment galore as games, various competitions were rolled out, as the children contested in games like “toss the ball, fastest eater and drinker, best dancer, visit to the Grotto and others.

Corporate Organizations on the Sponsorship lists include Seaway Foods and Beverages, Nutri – Yo, Checkers Custards, Golden Morn and others.

Eight Schools participate in the event on its first day.

Top Management Staff, comprising Deputy Directors of all the Units, Assistant Directors, FM Stations Managers, Marketing Staff, Spectators, Parents and Teachers of the Children, graced the event, which will run till the end of Christmas.

High point of the event was the cutting of both the tape to open the Programme and a celebration Cake, by the6 Director, Lagos Operations, to herald a great moment of year 2022 Children Funfair of Radio Nigeria, Lagos Operations, Ikoyi, Lagos.
