The Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SACHO) has taken swift action to address an alleged case of extortion involving one of its staff members.
According to investigation, Isaac Gbolahan Ogumefu, a staff of the company, allegedly extorted N100,000 from Oyewale Oyesiji, an Osun State-based automobile engineer, through an air ticket racketeering scheme.
The alleged extortion involved Ogumefu requesting the sum from Oyesiji to purchase an air ticket.
An investigation by our correspondent revealed that the company’s management was aware of the alleged incident and has commenced an investigation.
A top management staff of the company, who wished to remain anonymous, assured that the truth will be unraveled and justice will be served.
“We condemn any act of extortion, harassment, unethical behavior, or misconduct. This reported incident is contrary to our values and code of conduct that govern all staff”.
He stated that, the company has a zero-tolerance policy for corruption or misconduct and has taken immediate action by terminating Ogumefu’s employment.
“We understand that the situation may have caused concern, and we want to assure our stakeholders that the concerned staff is no longer in our employ,” the source added.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the handling company, Mrs. Vanessa Uansohia, said, the company remains committed to delivering the highest quality of service in the aviation sector and will not tolerate actions that undermine the trust and safety of its clients.
