Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday, again backed reforms by President Bola Tinubu, assuring residents and Nigerians in general of a positive turnaround for the country in no distant time.
The governor gave the assurance in a message to this year’s Inter-Denominational Divine Service, IDDS, organised by the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN at Olorunda, Ketu, Lagos with the theme, “Total Restoration” taken from the Bible book of Joel 2: 25.
Delivering the message, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin said the 2025 federal budget christened, “Budget of Restoration” had shown the direction of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in addressing critical developmental gaps.
She said, “The Church this year says the IDDS theme is Total Restoration; that is a confirmation for restoration for Lagos State. Every good thing that Nigeria has ever lost or Lagos State has ever lost individually and as a nation, God will restore in the mighty name of Jesus. I just believe this in my spirit. I am very convinced that Nigeria is blessed and it will prosper.”
The Chairman of CAN, Lagos State, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, who called on the political class to work for the interest of the masses, urged Christians to continue to pray for all round restoration of the country.
“The Lord we are serving will deliver Nigeria and is going to take us to the next level. The Lord will take control of everything about Nigeria and we are going to rejoice again. So, the message is a message of joy, of peace and new beginning. It’s going to be well with our great nation in the mighty name of Jesus Christ,” Bishop Adegbite said.
On the crisis rocking the Lagos State House of Assembly, Bishop Adegbite said “God is in control of the House of Assembly of Lagos State and God will resolve the matter for us. We are not going to fight in Lagos.”
The CAN Chairman said Lagos had always led by example and that it was time to also show excellence in resolving the leadership crisis in the state legislature.
Bishop Adegbite, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, said the Assembly members “must make Mr President proud.”
He advised the political gladiators to know that power belongs to God and he gives it to whoever he deems fit.
Bishop Adegbite, who thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support for the Christian community, appealed for the construction of a pedestrian bridge to reduce accidents and deaths among worshipers at The Apostolic Church, Nigeria LAWMA Territorial Headquarters Convention Grounds on the Oworonshoki/Ibadan Expressway.
Delivering the sermon, the Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Oliver Aba represented by the Bishop of Lagos West, the Right Reverend Oluyinka Akande called for improved funding in education and health sectors to reduce brain drain.
Dignitaries at the event included, Mrs Comfort Adeleke who represented the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religion Matters, the Very Reverend Bukola Adeleke, Justice Morenike Obadina who represented the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, a former Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Rotimi Abiru who stood in for the Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru and a host of other Christian leaders.
