Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised women for their vital contributions to his administration and to the overall development of the state.
The governor gave the commendation on Friday in a goodwill message to the 14th Annual Residential Conference and 31st Anniversary of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Lagos State Branch, held at The Apostolic Church LAWNA Territorial Headquarters, Olorunda, Ketu.
Representing the First Family, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religion, Very Reverend Bukola Adeleke, said the Sanwo-Olu administration recognizes Christian women as home and nation builders.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission and Chairman of CAN Lagos State, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, called on Nigerians to keep faith with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that unity and patience would help the country achieve progress.
The Chairperson of WOWICAN, Prophetess Stella Okoroafor, described the theme of the conference, “Salvation,” as a wake-up call for Christian women to take their spiritual lives more seriously while interceding for national leaders.
Also speaking, Pastor (Mrs) Josephine Asiwaju, Women Coordinator of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Lagos, delivered a lecture on “Effective Christian Leadership in a Perverse World.”
Pastor Asiwaju, who represented Rev. (Mrs) Janet Onaolapo, the General Overseer of Abundant Life Gospel Churches Worldwide, urged Christians and Christian leaders to live exemplary lives, warning against the growing emphasis on titles and wealth over humility and service.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to individuals for their outstanding leadership and contributions to women’s growth. Among the honourees were Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara, member representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Archbishop John Osa-Oni; Archbishop Halleluyah Ehindero; and Bishop Stephen Adegbite.
The gathering concluded with prayers for the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who clocks sixty-five on Sunday.
