The Lagos State Government says that it has completed 362 roads spanning approximately 347.17 kilometres since 2019 under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Mr. Olufemi Daramola, made this known on Monday during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing commemorating the third year of the administration’s second term.
Daramola said the government is preparing to inaugurate 12 newly completed road projects while accelerating work on 181 ongoing road and bridge projects across the state.
He noted that since the last ministerial briefing, the state has completed an additional 130 roads covering about 113.25 kilometres, alongside several strategic bridge and transport infrastructure projects designed to reduce travel time, improve road safety and stimulate economic activities.
Among the major projects delivered are the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and Approach Roads, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (formerly Dopemu Road) in Agege, Abaranje Road in Alimosho, and several road networks across Alimosho, Ikeja, Kosofe, Somolu, Bariga, Epe and Badagry.
According to him, the administration remains committed to expanding transportation infrastructure in response to rapid urbanisation, population growth and increasing mobility demands.
Daramola attributed the successful delivery of projects to the government’s determination to prioritise infrastructure despite economic challenges, rising inflation and escalating construction costs.
He highlighted the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe Expressway corridor and the Lagos-Badagry Expressway as critical projects supporting economic growth, regional connectivity and industrial development, particularly around the Lekki Free Trade Zone and major investments such as the Dangote Refinery.
The Special Adviser also pointed to several completed link roads and bridge projects, including Abiola-Onijemo in Ifako-Ijaiye, Obafemi Dada in Alimosho, Arowojobe in Kosofe, and Samuel Ekundayo and Imeke-Ajido-Aradagun in Badagry, noting that they have improved connectivity and addressed longstanding flooding challenges in affected communities.
He further disclosed that the state has implemented major urban regeneration projects across Ikeja GRA, Ikoyi and Lagos Island to address infrastructure deterioration and improve road networks.
Daramola said strategic projects such as the Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Igbe Road and the Agric-Isawo-Konu-Arepo Road are nearing completion.
On maintenance, he revealed that the Lagos State Public Works Corporation carried out interventions on about 957 roads between June 2025 and date, bringing the cumulative total to 4,209 roads covering more than 506 kilometres since 2019.
He also announced that the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency recorded a 300 per cent increase in revenue during the review period and is facilitating the deployment of about 30,000 kilometres of fibre duct infrastructure to boost broadband penetration and smart-city development.
While acknowledging challenges such as climate change, flooding, rising construction costs and infrastructure vandalism, Daramola assured residents that the state government remains committed to delivering sustainable, world-class infrastructure that supports economic growth and improves the quality of life of Lagosians.
