Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, named the solo driver from London to Lagos, Ms Pelumi Nubi as the Lagos Tourism Ambassador.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also gifted her a house and a branded Lagride vehicle with a customized number plate “NUBI 9JA.”
The Governor made the announcement when Pelumi Nubi, her parents and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Folashade Ogunsola paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina.
According to the Governor, it is not about the gift, but to encourage more girl child break the barrier and compete favourably with their male counterparts in any sphere of life.
Governor Sanwo-Olu charged Pelumi to use her platform to showcase the rich cultural values and aesthetic nature of Lagos to the world, which are part of her responsibility as Lagos Tourism Ambassador.
The visibly delighted Pelumi who could not contain her tears of joy, appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for the gesture and promised that the end of her solo trip would gear her up to promote the Africa continent, Nigeria and Lagos especially being the commercial nerve center of the country.
The Chairperson, Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa applauded Pelumi for her bravery noting that her car for the trip would be placed in the Lagos Museum.
