Sanwo-Olu, Oniru call for private sector partnership to reduce housing deficit

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled two Blocks of thirty-eight Units of two and three Bedroom flats, at Victoria Island.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who commended the management and staff of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation for keeping up the visions establishing it, called for more Private sector partnership to reduce the Housing deficit in the State.

He said “Our doors are open to work with other willing private investors, private sector players in all facet of life, be it in road construction, housing, in urban development, hospitals, because where we cannot reach, the private sector can reach”

The Governor assured Lagosians that before the end of this year, his administration would deliver more affordable and decent housing for all categories of residents and vigorously pursue comprehensive urban renewal programmes to unlock the potential in each communities in the State yo attract Lagosians both home and abroad.

According to him, his administration will ensure that opportunities in land spaces are unlocked, while the eGIS project to fast track the processing of land documents in the comfort of their homes will be delivered before the end of the year.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, LSDPC, Mr. Ayodeji Joseph commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his immense contributions towards housing development in the state and unflinching support for the LSDPC.

In a goodwill message, the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal urged government to build compact, low modern Cities to make the State more livable for its teeming populace.

The Oniru who commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for thinking out of the box, noted that Lagos has a small land mass, hence, the need to always convert any available space or unoccupied property to good use for hundreds of residents

The Channel Point Apartments project, a Public, Private partnership venture which started over fourteen months ago, seats on two thousand, eight hundred thirty-two Square metres of land in a residential neighbourhood of Victoria Island, further raising the housing stock of the State.
