Sanwo-Olu to Complete Key Projects Next Year — Omotoso

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, says the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will complete several landmark projects across health, transportation, housing, and infrastructure sectors in 2025.

Omotoso stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos at the weekend, noting that Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, are committed to ensuring that every project embarked upon by the administration is completed and functional before the end of their tenure.

“All of the beautiful projects you see that we have started, we are going to complete them,” Omotoso said. “The new Massey Hospital is almost ready — what remains are finishing touches. Equipping the facility is the next major task, but by next year, it will be commissioned.”

He listed other key projects nearing completion, including the General Hospital, Ojo, and a series of food hubs strategically located across the state to enhance food security and curb inflation.

“One of the food hubs, the biggest in sub-Saharan Africa, can store enough food to feed about five million people for three months,” he explained. “If there’s a food crisis or inflation, we can release items from the hub to reduce prices. It’s a facility that should excite everyone.”

On infrastructure, Omotoso announced that the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and its connecting roads are set for opening soon, describing it as a major milestone in Lagos’ transportation network.

“The Opebi-Mende Link Bridge is one of our most ambitious road projects, and it’s ready for opening soon,” he said. “It will decongest traffic around Opebi, Ojota, and Maryland, and provide a faster connection between Ikeja and the Third Mainland Bridge.”

He also revealed that work on the Blue and Red Rail Lines is nearing completion, while preliminary works on the Green Line Rail Project have commenced.

“The second phase of the Blue Line and the Red Line will be completed before the end of this administration,” Omotoso assured. “The Green Line has also started, and Lagosians will see visible progress before Governor Sanwo-Olu leaves office.”

In the housing sector, Omotoso cited the successful delivery of the Ajara Housing Project in Badagry, with others at Odo-Onosa and Sangotedo scheduled for handover soon.

“It’s not in the DNA of the APC administration to abandon projects,” he said. “We are proud of what we are doing in housing, health, education, and infrastructure — and all will be completed.”

He further disclosed that Lagos will soon commission what he described as the biggest school in West Africa, located in Ajegunle, which will offer world-class facilities for students in underserved communities.

“It’s a massive, world-class facility — something magical,” Omotoso added. “Lagosians will be proud of it.”

Omotoso reaffirmed that the Sanwo-Olu administration remains focused on delivery, continuity, and impact, ensuring that every project contributes to improving the lives of Lagos residents.
