Sanwo-Olu Unveils New Secretariat, Housing Estate, and Road in Ibeju-Lekki

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and grassroots governance with the unveiling of multiple infrastructure projects in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.

The newly delivered projects include a modern administrative block named “Bola Ahmed Tinubu House,” a 170-unit housing estate, the groundbreaking of a new legislative building, and a 400-metre standard paved road—officially named “Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.”

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the newly built Council Secretariat, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the developments as critical to enhancing operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and deepening democratic governance at the local level.

“These projects are not standalone—they are part of a deliberate effort to build a Lagos where no community is left behind,” the governor said. He commended the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, for demonstrating purposeful leadership and aligning the council’s initiatives with the state’s THEMES Plus development agenda.

Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, traditional rulers, and party leaders, noted that the 400-metre road will improve mobility within the Secretariat complex and complement the area’s broader infrastructural network.

The governor also participated in the groundbreaking of the Ibeju-Lekki Housing Scheme, which will feature residential units, paved roads, green spaces, and commercial zones—designed to stimulate economic activity and raise the benchmark for urban living in Lagos.

In his remarks, Chairman Sesan Olowa said the new Secretariat—constructed after the previous structure was destroyed during the 2020 EndSARS unrest—features world-class facilities, including a 24-hour solar lighting system, dedicated ICT centre with high-speed internet, and CCTV surveillance.

He also highlighted key achievements under his administration, including the introduction of Keke Jaja for waste evacuation, improvement of educational and health services, and overall commitment to sustainable development.

“This is more than infrastructure. It is a commitment to innovation, service, and the wellbeing of our people,” Olowa said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded by assuring residents of Ibeju-Lekki and beyond that his administration will continue to prioritize even development across all divisions of Lagos State.
