Sanwo-Olu Urges Lagos Youths to Turn Passion Into Prosperity‎

Lagos State ‎ Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged youths to turn their passion into prosperity to reduce restiveness associated with GenZ in the society.

Governor Sanwo-olu made the call at the 2025 Stakeholders Forum of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment held in Ikeja with the theme “Passion to Prosperity : Unlocking Youth Potential in Lagos,”‎

The Governor ‎ represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Abimbola Salu Hundeyin, reiterated the state government’s commitment to human capital development as Lagos nears thirty million residents.‎‎

While maintaining that passion alone is not enough, as youths need guidance, resources, and opportunities to succeed, the Governor however described Lagos as the “land of opportunities, where resilience, creativity, and innovation compensate for limited land size.‎‎”

It is time for us to move from potential to performance, from mere ideas to real impact.

With a united sense of purpose and collaborative action, we can create a future where every young person in Lagos is empowered to thrive, lead, and succeed”, he said”

I encourage everyone here today—public sector leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, civil society organizations, and our youth to commit to this transformative journey so that we can turn inspiration into action, promises into real progress, and build a Lagos where passion is not just acknowledged but is transformed into lasting prosperity”.

Governor appeals‎Earlier, the Commissioner of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe disclosed that the ministry has trained over two hundred youths in ICT and disbursed billions of naira in empowerment schemes.‎

Mr ‎Ajigbotafe noted that the Graduate Internship Placement Programme, which subsidizes salaries also connects graduates to jobs and certifications, with a call on the private sector to engage more youths to complement government efforts.‎‎

The Stakeholders’ Forum is a critical avenue to strengthen collaboration, foster innovation, and reinforce the government’s commitment to empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as expanding job creation opportunities for Lagosians” Ajigbotafe said‎‎

The Commissioner hinted that the 2025 Lagos Job fair will be unveiled soon in which over two thousand unemployed youths will have opportunities to interface with private organizations for employment deals.‎‎
