Sanwo-Olu’s pre inauguration activities kick off across Lagos Division.

Activities lined up for the inauguration of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for a second term in office kicked-off on Sunday with Youth Carnival and Robotic competition simultaneously across the five divisions of the State, namely Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

Students from Senior Secondary Schools in the six educational districts of the State took part in the Robotic competition showcasing ways Robots designed by them can be used in solving everyday problems, including rescue of road accident victims, clearing and repair of accidented vehicles and supply of essential commodities to hospitals.

Some of the students said they had learnt lots of life lessons, including building resilience while designing the robots.

One of the students who spoke with Radio Nigeria at the venue of the Ikorodu Division, Miss Hakima Joe also wants policy makers to include robotics science in school activities to further boost their capacity.

At the JJT Park, Alausa, the Ikeja Division, Commissioner for Education, Mr Folasade Adefisayo who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged the students and youths to take advantage of the many opportunities being provided by the State Government.

Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman, Shomolu Local Government Area, Mr AbdulHamid Salau who commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for empowering the youths, urged Youths to be focused towards achieving their goals.

At Muri-Okunola Pelrak, the Lagos Island Division Venue, the Permant Secretry, Public Service Office, Mrs Olasunkanmi Oyegbola who represented the Governor advised the youths to creatively channel their energy and shun restiveness.

Winners of the Robotic competition across each of the five divisions went home with a cash prize of one hundred thousand naira, while those who came tops in the youth carnival, got fifty thousand naira each with runners-up getting consolation prizes.
