The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Olubunmi Adetunmbi as Chairman of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC).
Adetunmbi, who previously represented Ekiti North Senatorial District in the Ninth National Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC), will lead the newly constituted board of the commission.
Also confirmed was Charles Akindiji Akinola as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, alongside 16 other nominees who will serve as members and executive directors of the commission.
5The confirmation followed the consideration of a report presented by Senator Yunus Akintunde, Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South-West Development Commission.
While presenting the report on Thursday, Akintunde said the committee had thoroughly assessed the nominees’ academic qualifications, work experience, competence, and integrity during the screening process.
“At the end of the exercise, the committee held a closed-door session to deliberate on the suitability of the nominees based on the criteria required for appointment,” Akintunde stated.
The SWDC is expected to drive coordinated development efforts across the South-West geopolitical zone, focusing on infrastructure, economic growth, and social inclusion.
