Shun Bullying & Cultism, Sanwo-Olu Urges Students in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged students in the State to stop bullying and cultism.

He gave the charge while inaugurating a newly constructed twelve classroom block and one hundred and eighty-two bed hostel for junior students at Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta, Ikorodu.

“As your Governor, I don not want to have students that would be condoning bullying or cultism, you will have to stay away from these kinds of acts. If you see something, say something. I want to encourage the teachers as well, please if they raise their hands that they want to see you, please spare them that one minute, and let them tell you what’s in their hearts, it’s only when you encourage them that they will tell you what’s disturbing them”. He said

The Governor who said that his administration would ensure that perimeter fence are built around schools in the state for enhanced security, explained that the upgrading of infrastructure in public schools was a deliberate attempt as about 197 projects had been completed in schools across the State in the last two years.

He promised that rice would be supplied to the Igbokuta Model College free every month from the nearby rice mill in Imota.

Governor Sanwo-Olu called for a minute silence in honour of the Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni who died from injuries allegedly sustained from bullying and Adedoyin Adebayo of Babs Fafunwa Millennium School, Ojodu and Israel Akpolebi of Ojodu Grammar School who were killed last Tuesday in an accident involving a truck around their schools

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, said the new projects would increase enrolment of students in the catchment area and help and impact positively on the students.
