The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos State Chapter has extended commiserations to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Government of Lagos State over the demise of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Soyanwo.
In a release made available by the Special Adviser to the Chairman of CAN in Lagos, Rev. Oladapo Daramola, the umbrella body of Christians in Lagos described Soyanwo’s death as a rude shock and a sad one. In his message, the Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, “It is with a heavy heart but one filled with gratitude to God that I write on behalf of myself and my family and all Christians in Lagos State to express deep commiserations to you, our First Lady, Dr Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, the State Executive Council and the entire good people of our dear State, Lagos on the shocking demise of our good brother and friend, our Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Soyanwo.”
“Having interacted with this beautiful soul on many occasions especially since my assumption of office as the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Lagos State Chapter, I can personally attest to the fact that Mr. Soyanwo was a man full of godly virtues, peaceful disposition, calm demeanour, gentle character and tranquil temperament.”
“He embodied the resilience, hope and aspirations of your administration towards achieving the Lagos of our collective dreams and I have no doubt that his passionate, dedicated and loyal service to humanity and our State will never be forgotten.”
“Our prayer is that God will give you the fortitude to bear this painful loss. The Book of Wisdom, Chapter 4 verse 7 reassures us, that “the righteous, though they die early, will be at rest.” Surely we will gather at the river, where bright angel feet have trod, with its crystal tide forever, flowing by the throne of God.”
