SPPG Graduate Urges Leaders to Prioritize Welfare of Citizens, Advocates Empathetic Leadership

Until Leaders in the country prioritize the welfare of the masses, dividends of democracy may continue to be a mirage to citizens.

A graduating student from the School of Politics, Policy and Governance, SPPG, Mr Treasure Kalu, made the submission while featuring on Radio One breakfast show, This Morning.

The SPPG Graduate who said there was a need for ethical leadership, urged those at the helms of affairs to shun selfish acquisition of wealth and focus more on people oriented policies for citizens to feel catered for.

The School of Politics, Policy and Governance was established by Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili through the Fix politics initiative to develop a new generation of ethical, competent and reform-minded public leaders.

Its intensive programme equips participants with a practical understanding of leadership, policy and governance, preparing them to drive accountable and citizen-centred change.

The SPPG Convocation celebrates the completion of this transformative journey, recognising graduates who have demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership.

It also reflects the school’s mission to rebuild trust in governance and empower Africans to take ownership of their political and development agendas”, he said.

While urging leaders to be empathetic, Mr Kalu called on the federal government to embrace technological innovation for the growth and development of the nation.

Mr Kalu called for regional collaboration to become a global hub of agriculture and technology to move away from being consuming nation to a producing nation, which would create more employment opportunities for the youths.
