State Govt. Urged To Extend Palliative To Youth Corps Members

State governments have been urged to extend the distribution of the federal government palliatives to Youths Corps members in their domains.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports and Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu made the plea when he paid an oversight visit to the Lagos State National Youths Service Corps,  NYSC, temporary Orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

He said that the Youth Corps members were members of the society and as such should not be left out of those that would benefit from the palliatives made available for Nigerians by the federal government through the states.

He stressed that going by the sacrifice the Youth Corps members were making in different communities where they were undergoing the one year mandatory national service across the country, there was need for governments at all levels to ensure that their welfare was well taken care of.

Senator Adaramodu however, announced that his committee was working assiduously at ensuring that the NYSC Trust Fund bill before the National Assembly was passed into law so that Youths Corps members that 

He said this would go a long way at reducing youth unemployment in the country.  

 Senator Adaramodu however,  advised the 2023 Batch “B” stream two Youths Corps members undergoing their orientation course in Lagos to take advantage of all the training that they would be exposed to during the programme particularly, those that would make them job creators after the service year. 

The Coordinator,  NYSC  Lagos State , Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa seized the opportunity of the Senate Committee on Sports and Youth Development visit to appeal to the state government to expedite action on the provision of a permanent orientation camp for the scheme in Lagos. 

The highlight of the event was the inspection of different stands where some works done by Youths Corps Members under the  Skills Acquisition & Entrepreneurship Department, SAED, were displayed,

The NYSC dance troupe added colour to the event.
