TESCOM Urges Teachers to Prioritize Health

The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has called on teaching and non-teaching staff to place greater importance on their health and overall well-being.

Speaking at the Commission’s annual sensitisation seminar, TESCOM Chairman, Mrs. Mopelola Peregrino represented by Commission member Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye emphasised that the event was designed to remind staff of the need to adopt healthy lifestyles both inside and outside the classroom.

According to her, prioritising health will not only improve quality of life but also help reduce mortality rates among personnel in the state’s post-primary teaching service.

Mrs. Peregrino expressed concern over the growing trend of health neglect among educators, warning that it often leads to preventable and manageable conditions such as asthma, hypertension, diabetes, and increasing cases of mental health disorders.

She urged all members of the teaching service to embrace regular medical check-ups, proper nutrition, exercise, and stress management to ensure they remain healthy and productive in their roles.
