Thousands Benefit from Lagos Micro Enterprise Support Initiative

Over one thousand beneficiaries have received start up packs at the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) 2023 Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI) Programme.

During the presentation of the items to beneficiaries in Ikeja the state governor, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat said the aim was to take the youths from unemployment and become wealth creators.

Earlier, the commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Cecilia Bolaji-Dada said the beneficiaries were drawn from the 19 centers of the skills acquisition programmes across the five divisions of Lagos State.

According to her, the event marks a special milestone of poverty alleviation in the themes plus second term agenda of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration which aim is to ensure that no one is left behind.

Mrs Bolaji-Dada restated that the state had zero tolerance for idleness and that the beneficiaries would be monitored to ensure they make judicious use of the items. 

Some of the items presented to vulnerable and indigent residents are Sewing Machines, Grinding Machines, Hair Dressing Equipment, Gas Burners and Cylinders, Barbing kits, amongst others.
