Three Soldiers Killed as Army Foils Attack in Kwara Community

Three personnel of the Nigerian Army have been confirmed dead following an early morning attack by suspected terrorists on a military formation in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq disclosed this in a statement, noting that the incident occurred at about 3 a.m. on Monday when the assailants attempted to overrun the military position.

According to the governor, troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, successfully repelling the assault and neutralising several of the terrorists.

He added that the swift response of the soldiers prevented the attackers from gaining access to the community or carrying out planned abductions.

Governor AbdulRazaq, however, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of three soldiers during the encounter, describing them as gallant officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the nation.

He extended condolences to their families and assured that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

The governor further pledged continued support for the bereaved families and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

The incident comes amid renewed attacks on military formations in parts of the country. Recently, a senior military officer and six soldiers lost their lives during an ആക്രമ on a base in Monguno, Borno State, while another attack in Benisheikh also claimed the lives of a brigadier-general and three soldiers.

Military authorities say efforts are ongoing to intensify operations against terrorist elements across affected regions.
