President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, to ensure a free, fair, and credible Anambra Governorship Election slated for next month.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Tinubu described the election as the first major test for the new INEC boss, stressing that it must be conducted with integrity, transparency, and honesty.
He charged Professor Amupitan to uphold the core values of credibility and public trust in the nation’s electoral process, adding that Nigerians expect a renewed commitment to electoral reforms under his leadership.
“This election will be your first major assignment, and it must reflect the highest standards of integrity and fairness,” the President said.
Professor Joash Amupitan pledged to deliver on the mandate given to him with sincerity and dedication, assuring Nigerians of his determination to strengthen public confidence in INEC and the nation’s democratic process.
“I will discharge this responsibility with all sincerity and seriousness it deserves,” he affirmed.
