The Chairman of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for standing firmly in support of Nigerian airlines on the global stage.
He described the government’s intervention as crucial in securing fair opportunities for local operators.
Speaking at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce Induction Ceremony in Lagos, Mr. Onyema revealed that the federal government played a decisive role in backing Air Peace’s entry into the United Kingdom market.
He said, the President Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation insisted on reciprocity in bilateral agreements, warning that any denial of access to Nigerian carriers would attract consequences.
According to him, this bold stance enabled Air Peace to break long-standing monopolies and provide more affordable travel options, particularly on the Nigeria–UK route where the airline’s London flights have driven down fares.
The President of the Chamber, Prince Abimbola Olashore, commended Onyema’s forthrightness and reaffirmed the Chamber’s support for policies that strengthen Nigeria’s economic growth.
Founded just over a decade ago, Air Peace has grown into one of Africa’s leading airlines, with a fleet of more than 40 aircraft and the widest network across West and Central Africa.
The carrier now serves as Nigeria’s flag-bearer in intercontinental travel.
