The President-General of the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) Ambassador (Dr) Sylvester O. Okafor has donated cash, bags of rice, groundnut oil, tomatoes, and to about 54 persons widows, Widowers, the physically challenged, and the indisposed.
Okafor said in a message from UNAA headquarter in Houston Texas to the event held at Umuoji Community, Anambra State, that UNAA would continue to support , and give hope to widows, widowers, and the less privilege across Africa.
According to Okafor,UNAA is an organisation committed to advancing the welfare and development of vulnerable people across Africa.
“Our focus remains to continue to uplift and empower underserved individuals, including widows, Widowers, persons living disabilities, and those facing different health-related challenges.
“Umuoji, and indeed the broader Idemili North and South communities are known for their unity, cultural heritage, and strong communal values.
“Notwithstanding these strengths, there are still individuals within these communities, that have continued to experience socioeconomic and health-related challenges.” he said.
The Ambassador said that UNAA,in a bid to further it’s humanitarian gesture, decided to collaborate with some community stakeholders to organise the event for the beneficiaries.
The UNAA President-General and Founder also expressed the organisation’s commitment to ensuring a result-oriented implementation of impactful initiatives in the communities.
Okafor said that such impact-driven initiatives, that would include vocational skills development, small-scale enterprise supports, financial literacy education, and access to basic healthcare awareness.
“These interventions are designed to promote self-reliance, restore dignity, and enable beneficiaries, also,contribute meaningfully to communities socioeconomic development.
“We at the UNAA firmly believe that, sustainable development can only be achieved through collective actions.
“To the widows and widowers,we acknowledge your resilience and strengths.To individuals living with health-related challenges and disabilities,we at UNAA affirm your inherent worth and potential.”Okafor said.
Okafor said that the beneficiaries, who were invited from Umuoji, Idemili North and South communities, were given cash,bags of rice, groundnut oil, tomatoes, idomie, and also received medical treatment from the medical team on ground.
