Urhobo Mourns Oskar Ibru, Leaders Hail Legacy at 67

Prominent Urhobo leaders and groups have expressed grief over the death of billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, who passed away at the age of 67.

The Urhobo Leadership Forum (ULF), Abuja, in a condolence statement signed by its President, Olorogun Peter Igho, described his passing as a huge loss to the Urhobo Nation.

“We, at ULF, are saddened by this news and hereby send our deep condolences to his widow, children, the Ibru family, and indeed the Urhobo Nation,” the forum said.

Also mourning, Great Ovedje Ogboru said he received the news with deep shock, noting that Ibru’s life of service, enterprise, and generosity had positively impacted countless lives across Delta State and Nigeria.

Former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, paid tribute in an emotional message on social media, describing Ibru as a “dear brother.”

He prayed for the repose of his soul, writing: “Skidoo!!! So long, my dear brother! Sleep well in the Lord. Tode Olorogun Oscar Ibru. Igbruuuuuuuuuu!!!”

In the same vein, Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) expressed shock and grief, describing Ibru’s death as a monumental loss to the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria.

He praised Ibru’s pioneering role in commerce and philanthropy, noting that his legacy placed Urhobo on the global map and created opportunities for countless Nigerians.

Born the first son of the late patriarch Olorogun Michael Ibru, Oskar Ibru carried forward the family’s tradition of enterprise, leadership, and service to humanity.
