The Director, Lagos Operations, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, has urged staff to prioritize their health and well-being above work pressures, saying, “you have only one life to live.”
Mrs. Owoyemi gave the charge at a Pre-Retirement Forum with staff of the corporation, held on Tuesday, November 4, at the FRCN Multipurpose Hall, Broadcasting House, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi who became the Director of Lagos Operations on December 15, 2021 will be bowing out of service on November 6, 2025 upon attaining the mandatory retirement age.
She also advised everyone to seek help early whenever they experienced health challenges by reaching out to their Heads of Departments, stressing that health must never be sacrificed on the altar of work.
“If the body is asking for rest, please let it rest,” she said, emphasizing that life continues even when one is no longer around. “The station will not shut down, but the death of one person affects so many people.
Touching on financial preparedness, Mrs. Owoyemi urged working wives to cultivate a saving culture and plan ahead for the future.

“We are in a situation where so much pressure is on the man,” she noted. “Don’t assume he will do everything alone — and vice versa — because it takes two to tango. Let’s support one another.”
On How They Feel As She Bows Out of Service
Several staff members paid glowing tributes to her leadership style, describing her administration as one built on stability, balance, hardwork, and diligence.
“These four principles guided her administration. She is calm under pressure, knows the right person to call in any situation, and always manages to calm tension,” one staff member remarked.
Others praised her for her motherly disposition, describing her as “more of a leader than a boss.”
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of a portrait to Mrs. Owoyemi by the General Managers of the three Lagos stations — Alhaji Wahab Akoshile of Bond FM 92.9, Maria Ihuoma of Metro FM 97.7, and Abiola Peters of Radio One 103.5 FM.

The forum ended on a cheerful note with staff rendering the traditional “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” chorus, while Mrs. Owoyemi personally served light refreshments to participants — a fitting gesture that reflected her humility and warmth.
As She prepares to draw the curtain on an illustrious career, Mrs Owoyemi leaves behind a legacy of compassion, excellence and exemplary leadership; a true testament to her belief that service is not just about results but about people.
