As the 2024 Batch “A” Stream One National Youths Corps members posted to Lagos StateĀ resume at their primary places of assignment, they have been asked not to take issues relating to their health and security with levity.
The Lagos State Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa gave the advice at the closing of the Orientation Course for the 2024 Batch “A” Stream One Corps members posted to Lagos state, held at the NYSC temporary Orientation camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
She said that the welfare of Corps members had always been a thing of concern to the management of NYSC, hence, the need to always sensitize the Corps members to be security and health conscious wherever they found themselves.
She called on the Corps members to always take advantage of the free medical services available at designated hospitals under the National Health Insurance Scheme whenever they were sick, rather than engage in self medication which might worsen their health condition.
While emphasising that only healthy Corps members would have the capacity to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities, the NYSC Lagos state Coordinator appealed to the Corps members to ensure that they stayed healthy at all times.
Mrs. Baderinwa however, called on Lagos residents to make serving in Lagos state an enjoyable and comfortable one for Corps members posted to their communities by extending their hands of love and care towards them.
She explained.that the Corps members would only be able to put in their best in an atmosphere of peace, love and understanding.
In an address, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade assured the Corps members that the police had put necessary machinery in place to ensure their safety.
He however, appealed to them to call on the Police on some designated phone numbers whenever they sensed any form of danger in their environment for prompt response from the police.
Mr. Fayoade also advised the Corps members against moving around the city late at nights or boarding vehicles that were not well branded for easy identification to avoid being victims in the hands of criminals.
In a message to the event, the Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu called on the Corps Members to be law abiding and respect the culture and tradition of their host community.
He also appealed to them to join hands with the Lagos State government in its efforts at building a smart city aimed at making the state more comfortable for people to live.
