2nd Convocation: 153 Students to Graduate from Lagos State Cooperative College, Unveils New Academic Building

In a bid to reduce unemployment, the Lagos State Cooperative College is set to graduate one hundred and fifty three students to become self reliant.

Provost of the College, Mr Akorede Ojomu, made this known at a pre-convocation news conference held at the Cooperative college premises at Agege.

Mr Ojomu stated that the development is positioned to contribute significantly to the State’s manpower development and socio-economic transformation, in alignment with the THEMES plus Agenda.

He hinted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu will unveil a new academic building to accommodate the increasing numbers of students during the three days ceremony which will be held next week.

“These graduates represent the fruits of our commitment to quality, employability, and entrepreneurship. They have not only earned certificates but also vocational skills, thanks to our partnership with the Lagos State Women Development Centre, equipping them to thrive in today’s economy.

“Schedule of Convocation Activities:
Monday, May 12: Convocation Lecture titled “Cooperative Management: The development and transformation of Nano enterprises in Lagos State, to be delivered by Dr. Olusegun Dada, at the College Cooperative Hall by 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, May 13: Alumni and Students Engagement Programme.
Wednesday, May 14, Main Convocation Ceremony featuring the award of National and Professional Diplomas, conferral of Fellowship Awards, and the inauguration of a new academic building by His Excellency, Mr. Governor”, the Provost emphasised

“In furtherance of our mandate to combat youth unemployment and poverty, we recently launched a Premium 9-Month Technical Training Programme, inclusive of a 3-month industry-based attachment. This programme is embedded with City & Guilds of London Institute curricula, ensuring global standardization and certification.
Currently, the programme runs in the following trades:
Electrical Installation and Maintenance
Plumbing and Pipefitting
Welding and Fabrication”

The Provost reiterated the commitment of the college to resilience, determination, and unwaivering academic excellence.

“This is particularly special for me, as it marks my final convocation as Provost of the College, with my tenure set to conclude in a few weeks.
I thank the Almighty God for granting me the grace to serve with honour, integrity, and purpose. I extend my deepest appreciation to Mr. Governor for entrusting me with this noble assignment. I am also thankful to my family, whose support and encouragement have been my anchor.”

“To the management, staff, and students of the College, I say thank you. Your efforts and belief in our shared vision have made all the difference” Ojomu said

The second convocation of the college will award students Diploma in Microfinance and Enterprise, Development
Cooperative Economics and Management
Professional Diploma in Economics and Management.
