‎A statement from the Ministry of Interior, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, conveyed the declaration on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

‎The Minister congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

He further encouraged Nigerians of all faiths to use the celebration to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

‎According to the statement, Eid-ul-Mawlid remains an opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and embrace selfless service to humanity.

‎The government also appealed to citizens to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and supportive of national policies geared towards unity and sustainable development.

‎Eid-ul-Mawlid, celebrated in Rabi’ al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, is observed with prayers, lectures, processions, and acts of charity.
