Keyamo Approves Minor Shake-Up in Aviation Agencies

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has approved a minor redeployment affecting senior officials within two key aviation agencies.

Under the changes, Alhaji Ahmad Abba has been appointed Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS) at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), having been redeployed from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), where he served as Director of Special Duties.

He replaces Mr. Godwin Gyang Balang, who has been reassigned as Director of Airworthiness Standards within the NCAA.

Mr. Victor Goyea, the immediate past Director of Airworthiness Standards, is set to take up a new role at NAMA.

The handover took place at a brief ceremony at the NCAA Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, where Mr. Balang outlined the core responsibilities of the DAAS directorate, recent reforms, staff capacity and future projections, stressing its critical role in ensuring aviation safety.

In his remarks, Alhaji Abba pledged to sustain and build on the achievements recorded by the directorate, noting that his previous experience within DAAS and at NAMA positions him well to deliver on its mandate.

He described the directorate as central to civil aviation safety and strategically placed to support the objectives of the Director-General of Civil Aviation in line with the minister’s vision.
