The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has commended Lagos State pilgrims, describing them as the best group so far during the ongoing pilgrimage exercise in Israel.
Bishop Adegbite made the remark during his sermon at the Sunday service of the 2025 pilgrims held at Tabar Hotels, Nazareth, Israel.
He congratulated the pilgrims, noting that their pilgrimage coincided with a historic moment for Nigeria on the global stage, as the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was recognised by former United States President, Donald Trump, at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., where she was acknowledged as a respected woman of faith.
The NCPC boss urged the pilgrims to remain steadfast in their love for the Word of God, describing it as the foundation of the Christian faith, referencing John 3:16.
Bishop Adegbite also commended the Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Gbolabo Okudero Omoniyi, and his team for ensuring a successful and well-coordinated pilgrimage.
He described Dr. Okudero as “a round peg in a round hole” and a tested and trusted leader.
In his response, Dr. Okudero praised Bishop Adegbite as an exemplary leader worthy of emulation.
He further announced that the pilgrims would receive the “Jerusalem Pilgrim” title on Monday, February 9, 2026, marking the completion of their spiritual journey in the footsteps of Christ in the Holy Land.
According to him, the pilgrims will spend an additional night in Nazareth before travelling to Jordan, ahead of their final departure back to Lagos State.
