The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has placed Lagos and other parts of the South-West under weather watch, following forecasts of thunderstorms and light rainfall over the next three days.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook issued in Lagos and valid from Monday, February 9 to Wednesday, February 11, the state is expected to experience generally cloudy conditions with sunny intervals, followed by thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening periods.
The agency said that on Monday and Tuesday, Lagos is likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by light rain later in the day. Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday, with the possibility of early morning rainfall in some coastal areas before thunderstorms develop later.
NiMet also warned that rising temperatures across the country could lead to thermal discomfort, advising residents to stay well hydrated, wear light and breathable clothing, and remain in well-ventilated environments.
Motorists have been cautioned to drive carefully during rainfall due to slippery roads and reduced visibility, while airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports to ensure safe flight operations.
NiMet urged Lagos residents and the general public to remain alert and follow official weather updates, as changing weather conditions may affect daily activities.
